Wendy Faith Laymon grew up in a middle class family of 6 children with a mom and dad that have been married for nearly 55 years now. Wendy Laymon has 2 children; a son, Cody and a daughter, Mandy, both of whom she loves very much. She is extremely blessed to have such a loving family. Wendy Laymon has several hobbies including, ballroom dancing, running, horseback riding, and traveling.

The deepest passion of Wendy Faith Laymon is missions work. She loves spending time in central America on mission trips. Some of those trips have been spent building schools and homes while others involved gospel saturation whose primary focus was to reach all people with the good news of Jesus Christ and His love for them.

Mission trips. Those words almost seem to evoke an ambiance of mystique and danger. The sense of adventure is almost elusive, yet paradoxically palpable. That is what Wendy Laymon came to believe as a young adult. When she was a teenager she was sure she would be a missionary when she graduated from high school. Wendy Laymon carried her Bible with her and invited all my friends to Sunday school. She was certain she would be in a foreign land somewhere just as soon as she was old enough to go.

After high school graduation Wendy Laymon attended Broomfield Baptist Bible College for one semester. Regrettably she lost sight of her call from the Lord to be a missionary. She began to live life for herself. She has since learned that “all wrapped up in myself, I make a pretty small package” mentality holds true. After several years of “self” living, Jesus drew her back to Himself.

Wendy Laymon attended a wonderful independent Baptist church in Everett Washington. She grew in her walk with the Lord under the leadership of a wonderful Pastor. Wendy Laymon had then been divorced for several years before she attended this church. The call she felt on her life to be a missionary returned strongly. Being under the strict leadership of an independent Baptist preacher, she was informed that divorced women cannot be sent to the mission field. Though disappointed She remained submissive to church leadership.

Wendy Faith Laymon eventually found her way to Springfield, Missouri where there is seemingly a church on every corner, most of which are Baptist!! She joined an Independant Baptist church in Springfield knowing she wanted to attend a conservative church where she could continue her spiritual growth. Wendy Laymon was still saddened by the fact that she would never be a missionary though she had accepted this fact many years prior. She attended this church for 4 years but since there were very few single adults in attendance, she decided to seek out another church where she could fellowship with other divorced singles and maybe even find a life partner.

Wendy Faith Laymon attended and joined a Southern Baptist church in Springfield heavily active in missions work. Many of its members went on short term mission trips to Central America, India, and China. The opportunities were endless!! AND divorcies were not only allowed to go they were also encouraged to go!!

Wendy Laymon didn’t blink twice; She was on board! She felt like a little kid in a candy store. Her dreams were coming true. “God does not reverse his call you your life”; She had taken a detour for
many years but that door had still remained open for her to serve in the mission field.
