AstroVed, a leading organization providing services in the field of Vedic Sciences and Vedic Astrology, organized the first-ever Grand Fire Ritual for Muruga on May 27 at its Homa Center in Anna Nagar, Chennai. This was to celebrate Vaikasi Vishakham - the day Muruga was born.

The mythology of Muruga is well-known in South India where people adore him as Subrahmanya, the lance-wielding son of Shiva. In North India, he is known as ‘Skanda’. Krishna too declared in his epic Bhagavad-Gita, “Among generals, I am Skanda, the Lord of War”. The similarities are evident in other cultures too. In Chinese Buddhism, Skanda Bodhisattva is mentioned as a warrior deity. The Jewish Star of David and the Biblical Seal of Solomon are very identical to the six-pointed hexagram that is the symbol of Muruga.

This Grand Fire Ritual utilized the abundant cosmic energies available during this time from Pleiades. How is Pleiades related to Muruga? Simply put, Muruga is the Vedic archetype who governs Pleiades, the constellation of six stars. All the cultures and most of the religious texts have referred to Pleiades by different names. In Vedic tradition, Pleiades is known by the name – Krittika.

Interestingly, there is a belt of Photon light around Pleiades which scientists discovered as far back as 1961. Our Sun is said to orbit the Pleiades system in 24,000 years, during which time we spend alternatively 10,000 years in the dark and 2,000 years in the Photon light. During 2012, the Sun, Earth and Alycone (one of the Pleiadian stars) will align themselves and more of the Photon light will enter the Earth. Thereafter, it is predicted that the Pleiadian Energy will be responsible for the transformation of planet and the genetic evolution of human species.

The Vedic experts at AstroVed invoked the beneficial Pleidian Energy during the Grand Fire Ritual for Muruga to empower the participants to overcome the ‘stuck’ issues in their lives. This was to help people to dissolve deep-seated psychic impressions, boost their health, create an environment of positivity, and tackle problems related to litigation and relationships with courage and wisdom.

The fire ceremony lasted for over 3 hours; it involved 9 priests and there was nonstop chanting of Muruga’s powerful sounds. “Fire ritual is a divine technology. It is this primordial act that can bring you ‘fruits’ without fail. A fire ritual does not require your belief in order for it to be effective. The yogis have said that sitting at a one hour fire ceremony is equivalent to meditating for an entire month”, says Dr. Baskaran Pillai, Founder, AstroVed.
